To commemorate the 33 victims of the Concordia shipwreck in January of 2013, off Giglio Island, near Tuscany, we proposed the design of a ruptured tower, reimagining the form of a light house. Visitors weave through darkness and light as the ascend a spiral staircase, toward the observation deck and sky. This project also points to the idea of our shared humanity, and the porosity of boundaries between land and sea.
