Textiles, finishes, color, and lighting are integrated to impart a natural richness and depth–avoiding trends and sensitive to the context. Schweitzer works with both modern and prewar apartments giving both a freshness. Furnishing, art and fabric selections are often woven into the designs. VSA obtains Landmarks commission approval in New York City and works with all budgets.

A cook’s kitchen in this family apartment on Riverside park anchors the home. A structural wall becomes a structural beam, and coffers are used to make it look seamless. The ample island of natural quartzite was designed for cooking but allows for kids’ homework. Hallway below enlivened with Turkish carpet and crystal lanterns by Urban Electric.
